Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a mixed-acuity Med/Surg Telemetry Oncology position, with inpatient nursing experience required and oncology experience preferred.

Details

• Mixed-acuity PCU/Med Surg Tele unit with approximately 24 PCU beds and 24 MS Tele beds, caring for medical oncology patients
• Patient population includes a variety of diagnoses ranging from solid tumors to blood cancers, with a high-acuity focus
• Patient ratios aim for 1:4-5, though may vary based on unit needs
• Specialized equipment includes GE B450 telemetry monitors, Alaris pumps, PCA pumps, bladder scanner, and continuous bladder irrigation
• Rotating day/night shifts (3x12); day shift runs 7:00–19:30 and night shift runs 19:00–7:30
• Weekend shifts are variable
• Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Chemotherapy administration competence is not required for this role

Requirements

• Active OH RN license or compact RN license required
• Minimum 2 years of inpatient nursing experience required
• Current BLS (BCLS) certification required
• 2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a Manager, Director, or formal leadership role (e.g., Supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; coworker references are not accepted
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Previous travel experience preferred

• Unit has a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention
• Pediatric patients are extremely rare on this unit and would typically be cared for by permanent staff; pediatric experience is not required
• Chemo training is available — the facility offers a 2-day chemotherapy course for interested travelers seeking professional development
• Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period and may include days, nights, or a combination based on staffing needs
• Ohio state fingerprinting is required and must be initiated promptly after accepting a contract; candidates outside Ohio may need to travel to an in-state fingerprinting location or will be mailed a fingerprinting packet to complete urgently
• Former employees of this facility are eligible for a travel assignment after a minimum 6-month separation
• RTO must be submitted at the time of consideration and is limited to 7 days or fewer for the contract duration
• Local candidates are accepted
• Parking is available for purchase on-site through CampusParc, with multiple permit options ranging from convenient garage access to budget surface lot and shuttle options
