Job Title

Registered Nurse – Medical / Surgical (Stroke Stepdown)

Location

Utica, New York

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) | Onsite | Floating Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 64-bed Medical/Surgical Stroke Stepdown unit serving an adult patient population
• Manage patients with common diagnoses including stroke, altered mental status, renal/dialysis needs, COPD, CHF, pneumonia, and general medical/surgical conditions
• Operate specialty equipment including IV pumps, nasogastric tubes, and feeding tubes
• Implement and maintain isolation precautions as required by patient condition
• Float to other units as needed based on staffing and patient census

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New York
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical/Surgical nursing experience, including Stroke Stepdown experience
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (must be obtained prior to start if not currently held)
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR
• Travel nursing experience required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for patients requiring dialysis or pulmonary interventions
• Familiarity with block scheduling environments and flexible shift assignments
