Culinary Coach

Resilience Rising's residential program is an adult residential facility (ARF) licensed by the California Department of Social Services. Our six-bed program serves female-identifying youth ages 18-25 years old who are survivors of sexual exploitation, trafficking, or the sex trade. Our residential program is for those in need of 24-hour care, supervision, and treatment, generally related to mental health, behavior health, or substance abuse. Description: responsible for meal preparation for approximately ten individuals in a congregate care setting for young adult survivors of sexual exploitation & trafficking prepares pre-planned menu that is nutritionally balanced, culturally diverse, accommodates vegetarian diets, and can be modified for special diets due to allergies or medical needs may prepare meals independently or with an assigned resident, when that resident is within her window of tolerance to ensure safety in the kitchen enhancing independent living skills, teaches assigned resident meal preparation skills in real time: food storage, food safety, kitchen hygiene, safe knife handling, reading labels, following recipes, cooking techniques, temperature management, time management, etc. remains cognizant of related biopsychosocial factors: history of institutionalization, disordered eating/eating disorders, poverty and food insecurity, neglect through deprivation of necessities, abuse through starvation or withholding food, gender dynamics, food as psychological trigger, food hoarding, disabilities, etc. creates a safe, empowering relationship with food by engaging teachable moments from a trauma-informed lens through validation, processing, reassurance, reframing, psychoeducation may be responsible for grocery shopping with or without an assigned resident documents daily resident reports Requirements: female-identifying and at least 18 years of age satisfactory background checks including criminal and driving history (if applicable) medical clearance including TB test and up-to-date vaccinations minimum of high school diploma or GED food handler certification certification in First Aid & CPR Resilience Rising training academy modules 20 hours of professional development annually Hours: The culinary coach is a part-time position with the primary hours fulfilled during daytime hours (typically 7-10am, 12-3pm, 5-8pm).
