Legal Assistant - EOIR & Litigation

Then consider applying to join the team at Minsky, McCormick & Hallagan, P.C.(MMH) Since its founding in 1975, MMH has focused exclusively on U.S. immigration and nationality law, handling both employment-based and family-based matters, removal defense and asylum, naturalization, worksite compliance, federal litigation, and everything in between. We currently have 13 attorneys exclusively dedicated to immigration law, and are seeking to hire an experienced full-time Legal Assistant to assist with cases involving removal proceedings and federal litigation. The firm is located in Chicago, IL and this position requires working in the office full-time. Those seeking to work remotely or hybrid will NOT be considered. Prepare a wide range of applications filed with immigration agencies (USCIS, EOIR, etc.) Assist with filing and service of process for complaints filed with federal courts throughout the U.S. Track the status of filings and initiate any follow up that may be necessary Maintain and update the client's databases Draft attorney and client correspondence Communicate with clients, as well as government agencies Education, Experience and Skills Required: 1 year of experience as an immigration paralegal, specifically working on removal matters Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat and an immigration case management system Fluent in Spanish (verbal and written) Essential Capabilities: Maintain strict confidentiality of client information Interact effectively and professionally with all attorneys, staff, clients, vendors and other outside parties Strong written and oral communication skills (in English and Spanish) Excellent organization and project management skills Able to use judgment to make sound, justifiable recommendations, and to know when to elevate issues Understand legal concepts and issues relevant to the immigration practice Learn new skills as technology changes Identify what work needs to be done and carry out typical job functions with minimal direct supervision Ability to manage a large workload Prioritize work on multiple projects to meet established deadlines, and ability to re-prioritize work based on the constantly shifting immigration landscape Work effectively in a culturally diverse environment and to treat clients and staff from various backgrounds with dignity and respect The benefits of working at Minsky, McCormick & Hallagan, P.C. include: Health and Wellness : Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance with 80% of premiums covered by MMH.
