Make a difference supporting young learners through a rewarding contract position in a dynamic elementary special education environment. This full-time assignment centers on grades 1-3, delivering expert instruction within the Stepping Stones Program. The opportunity begins as soon as possible, with students arriving for the school year on September 2.
Ideal candidates draw on their expertise in special education, fostering an inclusive classroom and developing individualized learning strategies for diverse student needs. You’ll serve as a crucial resource for students, families, and fellow educators, ensuring all children have the tools to succeed academically and socially.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid special education teaching certification
- Classroom experience with elementary-age students (grades 1-3 preferred)
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices for students with exceptional needs
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to develop and uphold Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Previous work in a specialized or self-contained setting is highly valued
Responsibilities:
- Teach and support students within the Stepping Stones Program, emphasizing skill growth and confidence
- Develop, implement, and assess individualized lesson plans aligned to IEP goals
- Cultivate a positive, structured classroom atmosphere supporting emotional and academic development
- Liaise with families, related service providers, and school staff to coordinate supports and progress
- Maintain compliance with special education regulations and documentation requirements
