Job Summary:
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in Anchorage, Alaska. This role involves working on a stepdown unit from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), serving a diverse patient population with a focus on cardiac, respiratory, neurological, and complex medical-surgical cases. The position employs a co-care/virtual nursing model, requiring collaboration with a virtual RN and bedside staff to deliver high-quality patient care.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Valid Alaska Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand required for auto-offer.
• Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in a stepdown, telemetry, or ICU setting with knowledge of cardiac telemetry, blood product administration, and advanced airway management.
• Float: Float within scope to lower acuity units, renal care, neuro, and medical-surgical areas may be required.
• Additional Information:
  • Unit is a Magnet recognized facility, Level II Trauma, with 407 beds.
  • The patient census averages 36 patients daily.
  • Unit utilizes Philips monitors and Massimo capnography.
  • Must be willing to work 2 out of the 3 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year.
  • Candidates must be at least 50 miles from the facility location.
  • References: Two references covering at least 1 year (6 months for CNAs) within the last 3 years required.
  • Housing options are to be explored in the area; options may be limited.
  • Time spent on required modules averages 16 hours; completion is self-reported.
