Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)The Certified Nurse Midwife provides comprehensive women's health care across the lifespan, including prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, gynecologic, and preventive services. This role emphasizes patient-centered, evidence-based care, health promotion, and collaboration within interdisciplinary healthcare teams.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive midwifery care, including prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum servicesConduct gynecologic examinations, preventive screenings, and family planning servicesManage low-risk pregnancies and births within scope of practicePerform vaginal deliveries and assist with obstetric procedures as appropriateProvide newborn assessments and care as permitted by scope and privilegesEducate patients and families on pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and wellnessCollaborate with obstetricians, nurses, lactation consultants, and ancillary servicesIdentify high-risk conditions and initiate appropriate consultation or referralParticipate in interdisciplinary rounds and care planningMaintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in the electronic health recordSupport quality improvement, patient safety, and evidence-based practice initiativesPractice SettingHospital labor and delivery units and/or outpatient women's health clinicsMay include on-call, shift-based, or scheduled coverage depending on practice modelPatient PopulationWomen across reproductive and post-reproductive stagesObstetric patients with low-risk pregnanciesQualificationsMaster's or Doctoral degree in Nursing or MidwiferyGraduate of an accredited Nurse-Midwifery education programCurrent certification as a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM)Eligible for unrestricted advanced practice licensure in the practicing stateDEA registration or eligibility, if applicableSkills & CompetenciesStrong clinical assessment and decision-making skillsExpertise in normal pregnancy, childbirth, and women's health careExcellent communication and patient education abilitiesCommitment to patient-centered, culturally competent careAbility to work collaboratively in a team-based environmentWork EnvironmentWomen's health and maternity care settingsMultidisciplinary, collaborative care modelEmphasis on safe, supportive, and family-centered care
