Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery (L&D)

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Night shift: 4x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30). Requires working every other weekend and holidays as needed.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Labor and Delivery unit will provide high-quality nursing care to patients in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. This role involves functioning as a Baby Nurse during deliveries and caring for newborns until they are transferred to postpartum.

Responsibilities

• Circulate during deliveries and provide newborn care including eye care and vitamin K injections.
• Assume responsibility for assessments and interventions in high-risk labor and delivery situations.
• Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care.
• Utilize electronic fetal monitoring systems effectively during labor.
• Ensure adherence to AWHONN guidelines and facility protocols.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a high-risk, high-volume L&D environment is required.
• Current BLS and NRP certifications are mandatory.
• Preferred certifications include ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate.
• Compact RN license must be in hand at submission.
• Must pass clinical review and provide supervisory references.
• Experience with EPIC charting system is required.
