Recruitment and Retention Coordinator University Corporation at Monterey Bay Salary: $25.00 Hourly Job Number: 2026-00020 Location: CSUMB Main Campus- Seaside, CA Department: Service Learning Institute (SLI) Priority Screening Deadline: July 7th, 2026. All positions are open until filled. This is a grant-funded position scheduled to end on 06/30/2027, with prospects for renewal. Program Summary The is part of a statewide initiative to support the next generation of leaders while reducing the cost of college for low to modest income students and students of color. Our goal is to develop, mentor, train, and inspire future transformative community leaders through a year of service and mentorship. This program will support 60-70 College Corps Fellows who will contribute 450 hours over an academic year in exchange for $10,000 in educational support. Most Fellows will work in K12 settings to support youth in civic engagement, academic support, and social emotional growth. Building on the at CSUMB, the College Corps program seeks to develop future community leaders who: understand their own identities; act with compassion and cultural competence; analyze complex social issues; and develop the collaborative skills to work toward equity. Position Summary Under the supervision and direction of the Principal Investigator, the College Corps Recruitment and Retention Coordinator works alongside the College Corps Director to administer and implement the recruitment and onboarding processes for the Fellows. Key Responsibilities Manage and coordinate the recruitment, selection, supervision, evaluation, and exiting of the College Corps Fellows. Support trainings and activities for College Fellows, including orientation, Partner‑Fellow Fair, paperwork completion parties, professional development, service days, reflection activities, and closure activities. Implement group engagement and participation strategies for College Corps Fellows including using social media, email, meetings, engagement on CSUMB MyRaft. Administrative Duties Perform administrative duties including tracking Fellows’ hours, coordinating onboard processes including background checks and TB testing. Coordinate the documentation of files of all correspondence, reports, procedures, and presentations related to the College Corps program. Follow procedures and policies for coordinating with University Corporation, Financial Aid, Advising, Student Leadership in Service Learning Program, Service Learning Institute, CSUMB service learning faculty, Basic Needs, and other university partners. Contribute To Service Learning Institute Collaborate with Service Learning Institute activities and programs by attending staff meetings, participating in outreach events, and contributing to the programs of the Institute. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education And Experience Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent from an accredited four year college or university. Working experience with first-generation, low‑income youth and/or college students. Preferred Qualifications Proven experience with service learning, experiential education, and/or civic engagement. A working knowledge of best practices in student-oriented success and mentorship. Experience and knowledge of success practices with undocumented students and AB540 eligible students. Experience in program development and program evaluation. An understanding and analysis of challenges that impact first‑generation college students and low‑income students and how to develop leadership potential. Experience in planning and facilitation training for students, staff, faculty and/or community partners. Ability to work collaboratively with educators and administrators in K12 settings, community partners in nonprofits, faculty, and university partners. Strong leadership, teambuilding, and group facilitation skills. Skills in recruitment, social media, and outreach. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills utilizing tact and diplomacy. Demonstrated ability to increase representation, voice, and equitable treatment of underrepresented student, staff, faculty, and/or community groups and to advance the university goals of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
