Office of U.S. Representative Sean Casten (IL-06) Position Overview The Office of U.S. Representative Sean Casten is seeking a dynamic, experienced leader to serve as District Director. This full-time position is based in the district office in Lombard, Illinois. The District Director leads the strategy and day-to-day management of the district office, ensuring that constituent services, community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and grants support reflect the Member's priorities and provide exceptional service to the people of Illinois' Sixth Congressional District. As a senior district staff member, the District Director supervises district staff, represents the Member throughout the district, and works closely with the Washington, D.C. office to advance constituent service goals. Key Responsibilities Leadership and Office Management Lead and manage the district team in carrying out the Member's vision and priorities. Supervise district staff, including assigning responsibilities, managing workflow, and supporting professional development. Establish clear expectations and ensure compliance with office policies, procedures, and performance standards. Oversee daily district office operations and ensure efficient, responsive service to constituents. Develop and implement district-wide goals and strategic priorities in partnership with the Member, Chief of Staff, and the senior staff team. Develop and implement Member security procedures and protocol. Constituent Services, Outreach, and Grants Oversee staff working on constituent services, casework, outreach, and grants activities to ensure alignment with the Member's priorities. Support the constituent services and casework teams in securing timely, effective assistance for constituents. Advocate on behalf of constituents with federal, state, and local agencies. Working with the larger team, ensures successful planning and execution of town halls, roundtables, community meetings, site visits, and other district events. Stakeholder and Intergovernmental Relations Represent the Member at meetings, events, and community engagements throughout the district. Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, local governments, coalitions, businesses, and other stakeholders. Serve as the primary liaison between the district office and federal, state, and local government agencies. Identify opportunities to strengthen partnerships across jurisdictions and with community organizations. Internal Coordination Collaborate with Washington, D.C. staff to ensure district priorities inform legislative, communications, and constituent service strategies. Partner with the Communications Team to promote district activities and support website, digital, and print communications. Partner with the Legislative Team to inform policy development through district engagement and facilitate information sharing between offices. Ensure consistent communication and coordination between district and Washington staff. Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Demonstrated leadership, initiative, and sound judgment. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to supervise and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment when handling constituent matters, outreach efforts, and stakeholder relationships. Experience handling sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality. Knowledge of congressional operations, legislative processes, and political environments is preferred. Familiarity with the issues affecting Illinois' Sixth Congressional District and the Member's priorities is preferred. Proficiency with standard office software and technology. Preferred Experience Four or more years of leadership, staff management, or supervisory experience in government, public service, campaigns, nonprofit organizations, policy, or community engagement. At least one year of experience in a government office or agency at the federal, state, or local level. Equivalent combinations of experience and demonstrated leadership will also be considered. Working Conditions Regular business hours, with frequent evening and weekend work for community events and meetings. Valid driver's license required. Ability to travel throughout the district and transport the Member when needed. Salary and Benefits This is a senior-level position. Salary starts at $100,000 and is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
