About the Role
Comer & Cross Garage Coatings has a unique opportunity for a General Manager to oversee Sales and Operations as the General Manager of our New York market. As we grow, we are excited to welcome a leader who will drive culture, revenue, and gross profit while ensuring outstanding customer experiences.
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall operations and performance of the location. This role blends leadership, organization, coaching, and customer service. You will supervise teams, manage administrative work, visit past and upcoming projects, and ensure our coatings crews have what they need to succeed. Your most important responsibility is to ensure the success of every install —training new crew members, modeling our culture of teamwork and fun, and consistently exceeding customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Provide clear, consistent leadership to the entire team.
- Hire, train, and supervise production personnel to the highest standards.
- Foster a positive culture aligned with Company values; serve as leader/coach and example-setter.
Operations Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Implement process improvements to enhance operational performance.
- Primary objective: Complete jobs on time and as efficiently as possible AND to the highest standard.
- Accountability includes hiring/termination decisions, labor efficiency, inventory efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure crews are equipped, scheduled effectively, and focused on quality execution.
Market Analysis
- Conduct market research to identify growth opportunities and potential challenges.
- Analyze competitors and local trends to inform strategy and positioning.
Sales Management
- Support the Regional Sales Manager in meeting sales targets; assist with hiring on an as-needed basis.
- Run sales appointments when needed and ensure smooth handoffs between Sales and Operations.
- Collaborate on pricing, scheduling, and capacity planning to meet revenue goals.
Reporting & Weekly Meetings
- Hold weekly meetings to review scorecards and KPIs (per EOS framework).
- Report to Managers weekly with results, risks, and action items.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure transparent communication across teams.
Handled by Detroit HQ (Centralized Support)
Call Center
- Install confirmations: handled by the General Manager.
- Service confirmations: handled by the General Manager.
Human Resources (HR)
- Installers: initial vetting call conducted by Detroit; candidates then passed to the Owner, and upon approval, to the location GM.
- Ensure labor is tracked and up to date; maintain regular contact with HR.
- Oversee documentation and onboarding compliance at the location.
Bookkeeping / Bill Pay / Payroll / Reporting
- Financial Reporting: provided by the CFO . Regular meetings occur between Ownership, CFO, and the location MM.
Marketing
- Detroit HQ provides in-house marketing with similar strategies deployed across all locations.
