Operations Manager

Purpose This position is responsible for all aspects of store operations, ensuring an exceptional shopping experience for each customer through company guidelines covering sales, customer service, and associate education. The role also maintains a safe workplace, manages profitability, and oversees store operations. Responsibilities Read and review profit and loss statements to identify improvement areas. Utilize computer and point of sale systems to maintain accurate inventory and manage the cycle count process. Supervise cycle count and inventory counting processes to maintain inventory integrity. Assist the General Manager with store‑level human resources and loss prevention issues as necessary. Supervise cash handling practices and communicate necessary information to the corporate finance department. Coordinate facility management to guarantee safety and security. Help keep the store within budget and control expenses to drive profitability. Maintain brand standards and operating standards to support brand consistency. Ensure store presentation standards are achieved and maintained. Assist the General Manager with customer service initiatives, creating a friendly and helpful environment. Engage customer focus during pickup and checkout processes. Handle claims and KCM/MOD duties as needed. Ensure maximum scheduling coverage during peak traffic periods. Interface with corporate headquarters employees. Record and report inventory, HR‑related matters, and cash office records. Ship out web orders, including samples. Manage checkbook for P&L and assist with operational budget and spending. Assist the sales team with resets, displays, and display credits (merchandising). Administer W/C matters and associated claims and maintain OSHA logs. Direct/supervise truck appointments and manage scheduling issues. Assist with customer pick‑ups, auditing storage, and maintaining pre‑sales/FDX. Participate in sales resets with warehouse team (pack‑out/overnight). Review and assess associate performance on a timely basis. Train, develop, supervise, and define workload for associates. Ensure compliance with COP/SOPs. Manage direct reports to ensure performance. Monitor associate retention and career development; communicate ideas to General Manager. Document unsatisfactory performance and policy violations through disciplinary action and performance counseling. Ensure compliance with scheduling, hiring, payroll, and business planning processes. Follow company policies and support company expectations and systems. Be available to open or close the store effectively. Perform additional managerial duties as necessary. Qualifications 3–5 years of retail management experience with proven ability to direct operations. Ability to perform in a high‑volume, highly complex location. Initiative and self‑starter attitude. Proficiency in recruiting, hiring, and training associates. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills. Independent discretion and judgment in a fast‑paced environment, adapting to change with urgency. Excellent customer service skills and ability to work well under pressure. Working Conditions Occasional travel may be required, including air and car travel. Employee frequently exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. Noise level typically quiet to moderate. Physical/Sensory Requirements Ability to exert 30–60 pounds of force occasionally or 20–30 pounds frequently; lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Requires use of hands and fingers; frequent standing, walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
