Buyer III

Buyer III Amentum is currently seeking a Buyer III. This position is responsible for procurement of materials, components, supplies and/or services for the company in accordance with procurement procedures, contract requirements and federal acquisition regulations. Works with local and international suppliers to formulate purchase agreements and arrange shipment and receipt of materials for assigned program. Job Responsibilities Review requisitions and work with requisitioners to resolve any unclear requirements and process orders within company requirements and budgetary limitations. Obtain material from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability and urgency. Confine with vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule. Obtain multiple quotes for supplies and services to establish competitive pricing benchmarks. Help set up new vendors in compliance with Government and Amentum requirements. Award purchase orders in accordance with FAR. Prepare orders and follow up to expedite delivery and shipment. Obtain certifications of delivery and conduct checks against orders. Maintain procurement records including items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance. Communicate order/project status with end‑users or customers. Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action. Work with all project departments to ensure overall success of enterprise operations. Review vendor invoices for accuracy and work with accounts payable to resolve issues for payment processing. Perform other position‑related duties as assigned or requested. Qualifications 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; 3+ years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education or experience. FAR knowledge. DoD Procurement experience. Knowledge and experience with the Service Contracts Act (SCA). Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, suppliers, and customers. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance (US Citizenship required). Preferred Qualifications Local candidates willing to support a hybrid role: 2–3 days onsite in Houston, TX once the office is open; remote otherwise. Compensation Estimated annual salary: $85,000. Actual compensation may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
