We are looking for a friendly, dependable, and motivated Part-Time Veterinary Receptionist with the ability to assist our clinical team when needed.This position will primarily focus on front-desk and client service responsibilities, but previous veterinary assistant or animal-handling experience is highly preferred. The ideal candidate is someone who is comfortable communicating with clients, working in a fast-paced environment, learning new technology, and jumping in to support the medical team when needed.This position will begin with limited part-time hours, with the opportunity for hours and responsibilities to grow toward the end of the year based on hospital needs, performance, and availability.Job ResponsibilitiesReception & Client ServiceGreet clients and patients in a friendly, professional mannerCheck patients in and out of the hospitalSchedule appointments and maintain an organized appointment calendarAnswer incoming phone calls and assist with client questionsRecord accurate messages and communicate information to doctors and team membersProcess invoices, payments, deposits, and other client transactionsMaintain accurate patient and client information within the practice management systemAssist with prescription requests according to hospital protocolsCommunicate with clients regarding appointments, prescription pickups, records, and follow-up needsHandle incoming and outgoing email, mail, medical records, and other correspondenceAssist clients with pet food, supplements, preventatives, and other hospital productsMaintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception and waiting areaProvide excellent customer service, even during busy or emotionally difficult situationsWork closely with doctors, technicians, assistants, and management to keep patient flow running smoothlyVeterinary Assistant SupportAssist veterinarians and veterinary technicians during appointments and treatmentsSafely restrain dogs, cats, and other patients using compassionate, low-stress handling techniquesHelp prepare exam rooms and treatment areasAssist with cleaning and resetting rooms between appointmentsHelp transport patients between reception, exam rooms, and treatment areasAssist with basic patient care and hospital cleaning dutiesHelp maintain stocked and organized exam rooms and treatment areasSupport the medical team during busy periods as directedAssist with laboratory samples, procedures, or other clinical tasks based on demonstrated training and competencySkills / QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentPrevious veterinary reception, veterinary assistant, animal care, medical reception, or customer service experience preferredVeterinary assistant experience is strongly preferredComfortable handling dogs and cats of various sizes and temperamentsExcellent customer service and communication skillsStrong organizational and multitasking abilitiesComfortable working with computers, phones, email, and veterinary practice-management softwareAbility to learn new technology and hospital protocolsProfessional, positive, and team-oriented attitudeAbility to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environmentDependable and willing to assist wherever neededStrong attention to detail and ability to follow established proceduresAbility to maintain client and patient confidentialityAbility to lift up to 50 pounds and safely stoop, bend, kneel, and remain on your feet for extended periodsWhat We're Looking ForWe are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with both people and animals.
