Person In Charge (PIC)

Job Summary: Oversee the store and its employees in the managers' absence. Supports the operation of the

End of the Trail store by providing excellent customer service that meets or exceeds customers' expectations.

Assists customers with merchandise service and sales. Operates POS cash register. Price and stock merchandise.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

A. Leadership

B. General/Administrative

1. Follow the work schedule as posted and observe shift operating hours at all times.

2. Operate shift within company guidelines to achieve sales and profit.

3. Open and close store according to the established procedures outlined by the company.

4. Adhere to all tobacco regulations.

5. Give all customers prompt and courteous services.

6. Pump Propane upon customer purchase. For safety and training a senior team mate may walk through how to utilize propane pumps appropriately.

7. Stay familiar with the company price book, operations manual, and bulletins.

8. Inform the Store Manager of all sales, cash, or operating discrepancies.

9. Notify the store manager within 24 hours of any discrepancies in the operating results on the shift report and of cash overage or shift conditions.

10. Inform the store manager of any personnel situations or policy violations that have an adverse affect on the store's operating performance.

11. Prepare a shift-change report at the completion of each shift in accordance with company guidelines.

12. Properly post all hours worked on the timesheet and sign it to verify hours worked.

13. Ring all sales as discussed in the operations manual.

14. Accurately post markups and markdowns, store use of merchandise, voids, and bad-merchandise write-offs, within established guidelines.

15. Adhere to professional and company policies related to dress code and hygiene.

16. Check in Vendors as needed.

C. Security

1. Share the responsibility for controlling the inventory on the shift or in the store.

2. Follow company policy with regard to excessive cash in registers, change box, and safe security, as directed by the store manager.

3. Complete a shift-change report at the end of the shift, as directed by the store manager.

4. Follow the correct vendor check-in procedure as defined in the operations manual and as directed by the store manager.

5. Protect company assets at all times.

6. Follow robbery deterrence guidelines at all times.

D. Merchandising

1. Keep coolers, drink boxes, shelves, and displays fully stocked and fronted at all times.

2. Properly clean and maintain equipment as assigned by the store manager.

3. Prepare high-margin products such as coffee, fountain drinks, and so forth as directed by the store manager.

4. Work directly with ICC to ensure inventory counts are completed.

E. Maintenance

1. Keep store floors clean at all times, with specific responsibility being assigned by the store manager.

2. Check the bathrooms regularly stock and clean as needed.

3. Check the store refrigeration equipment for proper performance at least once per shift.

4. Report all inoperable light fixtures to the store manager.

F. Performs related duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

G. May be assigned duties under the Chehalis Tribe Emergency Management Plan and Program.

Supervision:

A. Supervision Received : Manager

B. Supervisory Responsibilities : Oversee the store and its employees, in the managers' absence.

Minimum Qualifications:

A. Education : High school diploma or G.E.D.

B. Experience : Prefer 3 months related experience and/or training in a convenience store or similar retail environment.

C. Skills & Abilities :

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands: Must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing and pulling. Will encounter frequent periods of heat while in hot work areas and cold while in freezer area. Will encounter moderate exposure to slippery work surfaces and greasy areas. Must periodically lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

5) Work Environment: Common retail/convenience store environment.

6) Prior experience in a grocery or other convenience store operation.

D. Additional Requirements :

Submit to and pass a Drug Test

Successfully complete a Criminal Background Check.

Possess or obtain a food handlers permit.

Possess or obtain a valid First Aid/CPR card.

Must be flexible with shift and days off. Be willing to work nights, week-ends and holidays.

Must be able to handle busy periods during peak service times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week
