The position is approximately 60% front-end and 40% back-end, making it ideal for an engineer who enjoys building intuitive user experiences whilst remaining hands-on with Java backend development.\n \nReact is the strategic front-end technology moving forward, whilst Angular remains an important part of the existing ecosystem and will continue to be supported and modernised. On the backend, you will build and maintain Java Spring Boot services, APIs, integrations, and cloud-hosted applications within AWS.\n \nThis is also an AI-first engineering environment, where developers are encouraged to leverage AI tools responsibly to accelerate delivery whilst maintaining strong engineering judgement, accountability, security, and quality standards.\n \nDay-to-Day Responsibilities\nAs a Senior Full Stack Developer, you will work on the next generation of FTSE Russell's Index Management Platform, building workflow-driven applications that enable users to create, maintain, monitor, and govern financial indices. Much of your time will be spent developing modern front-end applications using React whilst also supporting and enhancing existing Angular applications as the platform continues its transition towards React.\n \nOn the backend, you will build Java Spring Boot services, APIs, and integrations that support workflow management, approvals, auditing, notifications, and operational processes. You will work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, UX Designers, QA Engineers, Architects, and Platform teams to deliver scalable solutions from concept through to production.\n \nThe platform contains significant amounts of complex data, requiring developers who are comfortable visualising, managing, and interacting with large datasets through dashboards, grids, workflows, and reporting tools. You will build integrations using REST and GraphQL APIs, contribute to dashboard functionality, and support applications running within AWS environments. The role also involves leveraging AI-assisted development tools to support prototyping, development, testing, and documentation activities.
