Classroom Assistant | New Castle, Delaware

Job Description

Make a meaningful difference every day by supporting students who require specialized instructional and behavioral assistance in an elementary school setting. This contract paraprofessional opportunity involves working onsite, offering essential adult support within a classroom environment. The role is dedicated to helping one or two students at a time, ensuring close attention and encouragement as they navigate their daily activities. Key Qualifications:

Hold a valid Delaware Paraeducator Permit (candidates without an active permit cannot be considered; if your permit is pending, please have a screenshot of the DEEDS portal available)
Prior paraprofessional experience in a school setting is highly valued
Comfort providing both instructional and behavioral assistance
Willingness to cover the $85 CBC fingerprinting fee (required for all candidates)
Commitment to reliable, onsite attendance Monday through Friday (35 hours per week with a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
Candidates currently certified as RBT are welcome, but must arrange BCBA supervision outside of school hours to maintain certification

Primary Responsibilities:

Offer one-on-one or small group support under teacher direction
Implement individualized instructional strategies to foster student participation
Support students in meeting behavioral goals through encouragement and positive guidance
Assist with daily classroom routines and transitions
Follow IEP protocols and support documentation as required
