Position Summary

The Maître d'hôtel is the first and last impression of each guest's experience at The Landing. This role is responsible for creating a warm, professional, and personalized welcome while managing reservations, seating flow, and guest relations. The ideal candidate is hospitality-driven, highly organized, and skilled at balancing exceptional service with efficient dining room operations.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Experience

• Build relationships with regular guests and identify opportunities for recognition and enhancement for VIP clientele.

• Welcome guests with professionalism, warmth, and genuine hospitality.

• Address guest concerns promptly and professionally, escalating issues when necessary.

• Ensure every guest receives attentive and personalized service from arrival to departure.

Leadership

• Mentor and train Host team, providing feedback and coaching when appropriate.

• Model excellent guest communication skills and dining room coordination for FOH staff.

• Help identify bottlenecks and sticking points during service and proactively brainstorm solutions.

Reservations & Seating Management

• Manage reservations through SevenRooms, looking ahead to forecast and proactively manage the books for high-volume services.

• Coordinate seating flow with management, servers, and support staff.

• Accommodate special occasions, accessibility needs, and dining preferences whenever possible.

Dining Room Coordination

• Work closely with management and service teams to maintain smooth dining room operations.

• Monitor table status and turnover throughout service.

• Assist in maintaining an organized and welcoming reception area.

• Support service staff during peak periods as needed.

Hospitality & Brand Representation

• Serve as an ambassador of the restaurant's culture and hospitality standards.

• Maintain extensive knowledge of menus, promotions, events, and restaurant policies.

• Communicate effectively with guests and team members.

• Uphold a polished, professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a host, Maître d’, or guest relations role in a full-service restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment.

• Experience in upscale or upscale-casual dining preferred.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficiency with reservation and seating management systems.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
