Borco Holdings traces its roots to Velte Foundry & Machine Company, originally chartered in 1901 by William L. Velte who was born in Germany and brought to America as an infant in 1849. Mr. Velte built the family name in Pittsburgh, PA with iron, steam, and steel. A craftsman by trade and an inventor by instinct, Mr. Velte developed a gas valve that came into wide use across the American oil fields and pioneered a steel-processing technique respected enough to draw the personal interest of steel-magnate, Andrew Carnegie. Mr. Velte’s life ended after a fall in the apple orchard on his estate. Through loyalty to the family lineage and a willingness to reimagine, the Velte legacy was carried forward, ultimately landing with the Borgman family. Today, Borco Holdings is the privately held, diversified holding company and family office of the Borgman family, entrusted with the stewardship of assets across operating companies, joint ventures, investment vehicles, and trusts. Where Mr. Velte once forged steel and provided industry-changing innovation, Borco Holdings today manages assets guided by the same discipline and quiet independence the Velte name has carried since 1901. The Role We're looking for a Staff Accountant to own the day-to-day accounting, close process, and entity-level reporting for Borco Holdings and its growing portfolio of operating companies and investments. This is a hands-on role within a diversified holding company and family office environment. The Staff Accountant will work closely with ownership and outside advisors to ensure the family's books are maintained with institutional-level accuracy and timeliness while operating with the flexibility and pace of a privately held investment organization. The ideal candidate is someone who is equally comfortable reconciling accounts and preparing the work papers behind them, from multi-entity bookkeeping and inter-company activity reporting, payroll, support for the annual tax filings, ACH/wire management, loan servicing, and more. What You'll Do Maintain the general ledger and complete the monthly close for Borco Holdings and its affiliated entities, investments, and operating businesses Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements at both the entity and consolidated level Perform bank, credit card, loan, and inter-company reconciliations across all entities Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, vendor setup, and disbursement processing Process and reconcile payroll, including related tax filings, benefits, and general ledger entries Maintain fixed asset schedules, depreciation, amortization, prepaid accounts, and accruals Track and record debt activity, including draws, principal and interest allocation, and loan amortization schedules Support property and portfolio-level reporting across real estate, hospitality, energy, and other holdings Prepare and maintain budget-to-actual reporting and variance analysis for ownership Maintain the chart of accounts and entity structure within the accounting system, ensuring consistency across the organization Assemble work papers, schedules, and supporting documentation for outside accountants, tax advisors, auditors, and lenders Support annual tax preparation and compliance across the family office structure Assist with the accounting integration and opening balance sheets for newly acquired businesses and properties Help document and improve accounting procedures, controls, and workflows as the organization scales Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion with respect to family assets, investments, transactions, and financial information What We're Looking For Significant experience as a Staff Accountant, Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, Controller, or in public accounting Strong command of GAAP, accrual accounting, the monthly close, and full-cycle general ledger work Experience with multi-entity organizations, holding company structures, or inter-company accounting Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or similar) and advanced Excel Experience in real estate, hospitality, energy, general private equity operating portfolios, or closely held operating businesses is highly preferred Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through on deadlines Strong communication skills and the ability to explain account activity clearly to ownership and outside advisors High level of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment Entrepreneurial and self-directed; comfortable operating in a lean organization without a large accounting department to lean on Willingness to build clean processes from the ground up rather than simply maintain existing ones Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CPA candidate preferred but not required Salary commensurate with experience Performance-based incentives Significant responsibility and direct visibility with ownership Opportunity to work across a diversified portfolio of operating businesses and investments Opportunity to grow into a Controller or other senior finance role as the company expands Long-term opportunity to grow within Borco Holdings and its operating companies #J-18808-Ljbffr Borco Holdings, Inc.
