Precision Machine Operation: Slitter / Rewinder Operator Wanted in Woodland!
Are you a detail-oriented machine operator with sharp math skills, a strong mechanical eye, and experience running web-converting or continuous roll-fed equipment? American Workforce Group has partnered with a premier flexible packaging and converting manufacturing facility in Woodland, WA to hire a full-time Slitter / Rewinder Operator . In this high-precision technical role, you will set up and operate slitter/rewinder machinery, monitor web alignment and roll tension, inspect print and slit quality in real time, check adhesive ratios and weights, and maintain strict food safety standards. If you bring dependable machine operating chops, tape measure precision, and pride in clean craftsmanship, let's get you on the floor!
Description for Slitter / Rewinder Operator:- Set up, thread, calibrate, and run slitter/rewinder machinery to optimize run speed, slit accuracy, and roll tension.
- Continuously inspect slitting quality during high-speed runs, watching for web alignment, wrinkles, roll-starring, and core slippage.
- Perform ongoing print and lamination quality inspections, monitoring print registration, ink miss-outs, flooding, and streak defects.
- Verify adhesive ratios and measure adhesive coat weights to ensure proper bond strength and specification compliance.
- Identify, tag, and document defective material or roll flaws clearly for downstream operations.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), production work orders, and palletizing/material handling protocols.
- Maintain accurate shift production records, quality check sheets, and scrap/waste logs.
- Stage raw master rolls, tooling, shafts, and packaging supplies according to the production schedule.
- Perform machine cleanups, blade changes, and preventative maintenance preparation for upcoming runs.
- Strictly adhere to plant food safety, SQF/GMP regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and PPE standards.
- Cross-train and assist in training new laminating personnel and cover departmental operations during absences.
- Pay Rate: $19.45 / hour.
- Schedule: Full-Time Monday – Friday.
- Training Period: Day Shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) during initial onboarding and process training.
- Regular Shift Assignment: Candidate's choice of Swing Shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM) or Graveyard Shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM) following training completion!
- Location: Woodland, WA facility.
- Position Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire career pathway.
- Prior machine operating experience in web handling, slitter/rewinders, printing, laminating, or roll-fed converting preferred.
- Measurement & Math: Demonstrated mastery reading a standard tape measure down to precise fractions and solid baseline mathematics skills.
- Sharp visual acuity for catching subtle print, slit, and tension defects during live machine runs.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting confidence.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs , handle roll shafts, and stand/walk throughout an 8-hour shift.
- Strict adherence to food contact packaging safety, clean-room standards, and plant housekeeping.
- Exceptional history of daily attendance, prompt punctuality, and a safety-first mindset.
- Competitive $19.45/hr starting wage.
