The Senior Manager, HR Operations will help drive strategic people initiatives, operational excellence, and data-informed decision-making across a distributed workforce. This highly visible role combines HR operations, analytics, project management, systems expertise, and cross-functional partnership. You'll translate workforce and HR data into executive-level insights, dashboards, recommendations, and presentations. You'll manage multiple strategic initiatives spanning engagement, compliance, performance management, compensation, and organizational priorities. The role also oversees leave administration, HR reporting, process improvements, and key compliance areas including FLSA and overtime requirements. You'll work closely with senior leaders and teams across Payroll, Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Finance, Technology, and other functions. The position is remote for eligible U.S.-based professionals, with a preference for candidates able to work periodically from Washington, D.C.

Accountabilities

• Partner with senior HR business partners on cross-functional initiatives including employee engagement, compliance, performance management, compensation planning, and organizational projects.
• Manage multiple HR and operational projects from planning through execution, maintaining accountability, timelines, workflows, and stakeholder alignment.
• Create executive-level dashboards, reports, data summaries, and presentations that translate complex workforce information into actionable insights.
• Analyze HR, recruiting, engagement, and workforce data to identify trends, develop recommendations, and communicate compelling data-driven narratives to senior leadership.
• Own and maintain strategic HR project and communications trackers, ensuring initiatives, plans, and deliverables remain accurate and up to date.
• Improve HR systems, reporting tools, data reconciliation processes, documentation, and operational workflows.
• Lead leave-of-absence administration and operations, with particular focus on parental leave, while staying current on applicable federal and state paid family and medical leave requirements.
• Serve as a subject matter resource on FLSA, overtime compliance, time reporting, and related audits.
• Coordinate professional development initiatives, employee requests, and associated budgets.
• Collaborate with Payroll and Benefits, Talent Acquisition, Finance, Technology Services, and other stakeholders on people-focused initiatives.
• Supervise and support the People Operations Coordinator, ensuring HR data, dashboards, documentation, content, and processes remain accurate and current.
• Facilitate meetings and support effective collaboration across remote and in-person teams.
• Maintain visibility into competing priorities and proactively communicate risks, progress, and emerging issues to senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 4–7 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, People Operations, HR Analytics, Project Management, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional projects involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
• Experience with HRIS platforms such as Paycor or comparable systems and applicant tracking systems such as Greenhouse or similar platforms.
• Experience building dashboards and synthesizing large datasets into actionable insights for senior leadership.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets and Microsoft PowerPoint or Google Slides.
• Experience with reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, HRIS reporting platforms, or similar technologies.
• Strong analytical, critical-thinking, reporting, organizational, and project-management skills.
• Working knowledge of HR compliance, leave administration, FLSA requirements, overtime, and employment best practices.
• Excellent written, editorial, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both senior leaders and operational teams.
• Strong ability to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience facilitating meetings, designing effective working sessions, and collaborating across distributed teams.
• Experience training, coaching, mentoring, or supporting the development of colleagues.
• Ability to improve operational processes through organization, automation, documentation, and continuous improvement.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
• Familiarity with the Jewish community and genuine respect for the diversity of Jewish life.
• Experience working with and supporting distributed or remote workforces.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Microsoft Outlook, video conferencing platforms, and related workplace technologies.
• Supervision experience is preferred.
• SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred.
