Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPosition Summary1st Choice Healthcare is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Referral Coordinator to support patient care at our Walnut Ridge clinic.The Referral Coordinator is an integral member of the care team and is responsible for coordinating patient referrals to specialists, diagnostic facilities, and other healthcare providers. This role ensures accurate patient demographic and insurance information, obtains required pre-authorizations, and tracks referrals to support timely appointments and continuity of care. The Referral Coordinator must demonstrate excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills and maintain strict confidentiality while working with sensitive patient information. Our organization is founded and governed by the community we serve.Key ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and manage patient referrals to specialists and external healthcare providersEnsure complete and accurate patient demographic and insurance informationObtain required pre-authorizations and referrals from insurance carriersTrack, follow up, and document referral status to ensure timely completion of servicesCommunicate effectively with patients, providers, insurance companies, and external officesMaintain accurate documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) systemAdhere to HIPAA, organizational policies, and regulatory requirementsQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED requiredPrevious experience in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred; referral coordination experience strongly preferredProficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare software systemsStrong organizational skills with high attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environmentAbility to lift and carry up to 25 poundsAdditional RequirementsThis is a Safety Sensitive position; use of a Medical Marijuana card is prohibited in accordance with Act 593Facial piercings are not permittedEqual Opportunity Employer
