What You'll Do

• Float across Oncology and Medical-Surgical units within a correctional facility environment
• Deliver resident-focused nursing care for patients with active oncology diagnoses and other complex conditions
• Administer medications, including IV therapies and cardiac drips, under established protocols
• Monitor and interpret telemetry data and ABGs, responding to alarms and emergencies promptly
• Manage patient care involving feeding tubes, dialysis, respiratory support, and Tracheostomy care
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including pharmacy, physical therapy, and social services
• Document all patient interactions accurately in EPIC electronic health records

What You Need

• Valid Ohio RN license and BLS certification
• Prior experience in Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, or Oncology nursing (minimum 1 year preferred)
• EPIC charting experience required
• Strong skills in IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, and respiratory support
• Ability to adapt to a correctional setting, ensuring safety protocols are maintained

About the Assignment

This role takes place within a secured corrections unit operated by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC). The facility cares for inmates with diverse health conditions, including oncology diagnoses, requiring vigilant and compassionate nursing care. Unit safety is maintained with a 1:2 Corrections Officer to inmate ratio, and nurses are expected to float between units based on staffing needs. Shifts are scheduled for nights, typically 12 hours, with periodic rotations based on unit requirements and staffing needs, giving candidates flexibility and stability in their schedule.
