Job Description

The McDonald Center for Student Well-Being enhances student flourishing and embeds holistic well-being into every aspect of student life. Through health promotion, harm reduction, prevention education, and the cultivation of student leaders in well-being, the McDonald Center empowers all students to make healthy choices while inspiring a campus community to create a culture of well-being.

Working within a public health framework, the Program Coordinator for Alcohol Education will work with a dynamic team of professionals to grow a strong peer-driven well-being culture as a means of embedding well-being into every aspect of student life.

This position reports directly to the Director for McDonald Center for Student Well-Being and will
work collaboratively with the Assistant Director, Substance Use Prevention and Education as part of Student Health and Wellness in the Division of Student Affairs. This is a full-time, 12 month position and will require weekend and evening hours.

Alcohol Education and Substance Misuse Prevention

• Assist with the development and implementation of a cohesive campus-wide alcohol education campaign for all students (e.g., Stay in the Green).
• Design, implement, and assess alcohol education and substance use risk reduction strategies. Programming will include sober tailgates, substance-free late night events, and off-campus excursions. These responsibilities will primarily occur during non-business hours.
• Co-develops psychoeducation curricula, presentations, and workshops, grounded in prevention and promotion models tailored to different student experiences represented on campus.

Student Initiatives Coordination

• Cultivate a substance-free and sober curious community by supporting ZeroProof, a student organization affiliated with the McDonald Center.
• Recruit, train, and mentor peer leaders, volunteers, and student employees.
• Manage budget for peer-led initiatives and training.

Other Opportunities

• Provide individual and group alcohol education meetings for students.
• Serve on campus committees; attend and present at regional and national training and conferences.
• Regularly collaborates with other areas within the Division of Student Affairs and Student Health and Wellness, student clubs and organizations, and other University units to enhance the department’s work building connections and relationships with students.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion, Health Science, Public Health, Psychology, or other related field.

• Demonstrates strong leadership and interpersonal skills for empowering, motivating, and developing students.
• Demonstrate high standards of integrity, and motivation to incorporate best practices into organizational culture.
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal) that contribute to building and sustaining effective collaboration with University and community partners.
• Ability to deliver compelling and effective presentations and educational experiences for a variety of audiences.
• Demonstrates strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office suite, Google applications, Social media platforms, graphic design
• The successful candidate will also demonstrate a clear appreciation of and commitment to the University’s Catholic, Holy Cross mission.

Salary:$47,500
