Financial Planning Analyst

Job Description The Financial Planning and Analysis Analyst is primarily responsible for managing the Department of Anesthesia Faculty Compensation Plan within the Clinical Operations team. Key responsibilities may include independently conducting and interpreting complex financial assessments and modeling, leading internal audit processes, and developing reports and/or dashboards on key operational metrics to support decision-making by senior leadership. This individual will implement systems to be consistent with policy and external requirements. Key Responsibilities 50% – Clinical Compensation Plan: Applies advanced financial services and accounting concepts to perform highly complex technical analyses. Management of the Anesthesia Clinical Compensation Plan, including processing faculty clinical incentive compensation payments, reconciling clinical billing data relative to clinical schedule assignments, auditing compensation calculations to ensure payment accuracy, and preparing monthly clinical summaries reports that determine the clinical incentive compensation payment for each faculty member. Preparation and processing of payments for the nearly 300 department faculty. Other Physician Payments And Reporting: generates, distributes, and analyzes monthly reports related, but not limited to faculty days over scheduled and quarterly incentive payment credit summaries; advises on feasibility of updates to the compensation plan, models scenarios, evaluates viability, and provides recommendations to leadership; coordinates financial system implementations and upgrades as appropriate. 10% – Initiates and designs summary reports and background materials regarding a wide variety of internal and external policies and regulations to address issues such as regulatory compliance, tax implications, recovery of cash, risk management, and the organized implementation of new services, procedures and/or policies. 10% – Participates in the analysis and design for new services or financial operational systems or processes that have critical organization-wide impact. 10% – Conducts audits of internal records and processes, makes recommendations on maintaining and strengthening internal controls to protect University resources, interprets related policies and advises departments accordingly. 10% – May back up those who perform specialized tasks or activities, train staff, and create an effective teamwork environment. 10% – May serve as a project manager or subject matter expert. Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years of related experience. Bachelor's degree in finance, business, or related field and/or equivalent experience/training. Advanced knowledge of financial or accounting concepts, policies and procedures, as well as related accounting and regulatory compliance requirements. Advanced knowledge of organization and systemwide financial processes and procedures. Advanced skills in the use of spreadsheet and database software. Ability to develop and implement financial data management and reporting systems. Skills in project management, leadership, and process redesign. Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources. Advanced leadership skills to provide guidance, coaching and mentoring to professional and support staff. Service orientation, ability to multi‑task effectively in a varied, high volume environment; uses sound judgment and decision making, critical thinking, creative problem solving, and effective verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively across the organization at all levels. Two to three (2–3) years of experience with project management in a complex healthcare environment. Two (2) years of experience in a leadership role; direct reports not required. Experience with Tableau or other data visualization platforms. Experience working in an Academic Medical Center or School of Medicine Department. Experience with QGenda scheduling and reporting functions. Experience with Epic Electronic Health Record. Master's degree in a related field. Lean/performance improvement certification. Project Management certification.
