Operating Room - Surgical Technologist - $2140 per week.

Experience:

• 36 months of experience with 3 months within the last 12 months.

• Certificate completion required.

Requirements:

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• COVID vaccination required after submission. Medical declinations accepted.

• No current placement allowed at Program: Medefis Program - Covenant Health.

Required Skills/Experience:
Must be proficient in total joint, sports medicine, general, and ortho spine.

Unit Details:
Works under direct surgeon supervision to support invasive surgical procedures and maintain a safe operating room environment.
Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment needed during procedures and anticipates surgeon needs.
Responsibilities include checking supplies and equipment needed for a procedure; scrubbing, gowning, and gloving self, surgeon, and assistants; performing counts with the circulator prior to the operation and before the incision is closed; assisting in draping the sterile field; passing instruments to the surgeon during the procedure; maintaining sterile technique; assisting with terminal room cleaning; preparing instruments for terminal sterilization; and prepping the surgical suite for the next patient.
Also works with new employees and students and helps train them in the surgical tech role.
Does not function in the circulating nurse role or first assistant role and does not administer medications or complete patient records.
Uses Epic.

Shift & Scheduling:
Holidays as required.
Must be available to work every other weekend if requested to do so by the Department Manager or Supervisor.

14 days maximum time off

1 Charge/Lead reference required from within the last 12 months
