Shipping and Receiving Clerk

Due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position to be safety‑sensitive. Summary Based in Vernon, California the Shipping and Receiving Clerk will perform essential job functions associated with heat treatment under the direction of the Supervisor to meet customer specifications including assisting other employees as needed. Responsibilities Maintains shipping and receiving area as needed. Assists with loading and unloading trucks. Schedules truck shipments, UPS, and FedEx as needed. Interacts with customers to clarify or communicate discrepancies and schedules. Inspects and records incoming and outgoing orders for count, damage, dates, etc. Brings any irregularities or concerns to supervisor immediately. Promotes and practices safety and good housekeeping. Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position. Ensures careful care and treatment of customer inventory to prevent loss or damage. Reports to work on time, follows directions, interacts effectively with co‑workers, understands and follows rules and procedures, and accepts constructive criticism. Qualifications Must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. citizens or Permanent Resident Card holders. High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum one year experience in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, and ability to learn new software related to the function. Some shipping experience desired. Must obtain and maintain forklift certification. Must demonstrate ability to read, write, and communicate in English. Physical & Mental Demands Work in a sitting position for extended periods (desk, driving, etc.) in an industrial environment. Manual dexterity for data entry. Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach. Ability to lift 50 lbs. May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity. Cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions. Effective oral and written communication. Visual acuity to read documents and computer screens. Ability to hear in person and via phone. Pay & Benefits The hourly pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00 per hour, based on experience, skills, and qualifications. This position is classified as non‑exempt and eligible for overtime pay in accordance with state and federal law.
