Title: Dir Federal Regulatory Affairs Company: Tampa Electric Company State and City: Florida - Tampa Shift: 8 Hr. X 5 Days The Dir Federal Regulatory Affairs is responsible for directing departmental and company activities at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), including the coordinated development of regulatory policy and compliance plans in support of corporate objectives, and general federal regulatory issues management. Manage various FERC activities, including communication of FERC rulemakings, orders, etc. that affect the Company and lead the response to these initiatives. Manage the preparation of analyses in support of the companies’ federal regulatory activities, including periodic market-power analyses and FERC audits, rate cases and annual updates. Participate in formulating regulatory positions and policies, coordinating FERC issues and assisting in performing technical and compliance reviews of company filings. Serve as a primary contact for Energy Supply, Electric Delivery, Wholesale Marketing & Fuels, Federal Affairs, Legal Services, Purchasing, Treasury, and Finance with regards to FERC initiatives. Primary Duties And Responsibilities Direct coordinated, effective and practical development of the compliance programs for the various FERC and other applicable federal agencies’ rules and standards. Lead the corporation’s response to various FERC initiatives. Direct the preparation, development, and submittal of responses for Tampa Electric. Manage FERC rate cases, audits, annual true-up processes, and market-power screen analyses for periodic FERC market-based rate reauthorizations, etc. for Tampa Electric to achieve desired results. Direct and assume a proactive leadership role in the development of strategic policy direction and focused advocacy for the corporation’s federal regulatory and transmission activities. Effectively participate in activities regarding state and federal legislative initiatives. Respond strategically to federal regulatory issues that arise. Includes involving the appropriate departments, communicating effects of proposed rules to applicable areas of the company, and providing updates to company officers and departments on current federal regulatory issues. Maintain current knowledge and participate supportively in the company’s activities regarding FERC compliance and Florida market development. Provide regulatory strategy and policy analysis for FERC issues. This includes taking a leadership role in emerging industry issues. Consistent with the FERC program, provide oversight to ensure development of effective compliance plans through Education and Training and Auditing and Monitoring. Qualifications Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Economics or other related business major from an accredited college/university. Preferred : MBA or other graduate degree from an accredited college/university. Experience Required: 10 years of direct work experience in regulatory affairs, regulatory compliance, and/or regulatory processes. Supervisory Experience Required: 4 years of leadership managing a team, critical negotiations, and/or high impact/key initiatives. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA) Required: Must be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other PC-based software.
