Cardiac Interventional Technologist - PRN

General Summary of Position MedStar Health is looking for a PRN Cardiac Interventional Technologist to join our team at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital. We need a licensed Radiology Technologist with excellent communication skills. The Cardiac/Interventional Technologist will perform angiographic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures and will be responsible for patient management before, during, and after each procedure. Primary Duties Administer contrast media into coronary arteries as directed by a cardiologist during cardiac catheterization, recognizing pathology and vital signs to determine the appropriate volume for each injection. Act as the first assistant to the physician, aiding in manipulation and placement of guide wires and catheters, and administer contrast under supervision of a senior technician if required. Apply knowledge of normal physiologic and electrocardiographic sequences of cardiac contraction, recognize minor and dangerous arrhythmias, and provide appropriate patient care. Respond to on‑call emergencies according to department policy and participate in meetings, committees, community outreach, and instructional activities. Maintain adequate stock of basic interventional and cardiac supplies, keep the supervisor updated on inventory, perform daily and weekly infection control measures, and keep all patient records and check sheets up to date. Correctly enter patient and supply information into the system. Perform angiographic, therapeutic, and interventional imaging procedures. Provide quality patient care and monitoring throughout all procedure phases in accordance with physician instructions and established policy. Operate imaging equipment safely and record hemodynamic data during cardiovascular procedures. Handle pre‑procedural duties such as sterile tray preparation, procedural patient education, and verification of lab work and medical history. Manage post‑procedural duties including observation, catheter insertion site care, discharge instructions, patient transportation, and communication of patient status to the receiving unit. Schedule and maintain orderly patient flow. Qualifications Satisfactory completion of an AMA‑approved Radiologic Technology school of at least two years in duration. Clinical experience in diagnostic radiology with a commitment to complete a 6‑month MedStar intensive interventional training program. American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification or registration. Radiology Technologist license in the State of Maryland. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or eligibility. Salary This position has a hiring range of $41.98 - $68.75 per hour. #J-18808-Ljbffr MedStar Health
