Position Overview University Correctional Healthcare is seeking a full‑time Staff Nurse for Edna Mahan Correctional Facility, located in Clinton, NJ. The role involves utilizing the nursing process to meet diverse health care needs with a primary focus on ambulatory care within a correctional environment. Employment type: Full Time; Work hours: 40 per week; Shift: Evening; Work arrangement: Full onsite. Responsibilities Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of inmate‑patients—both adults (18‑64) and geriatrics (65+), within the correctional system framework. Utilizes effective communication skills by demonstrating respect, concern, and courtesy in all interpersonal relationships. Applies current knowledge to promote a safe environment for providing health care to inmate‑patients. Qualifications Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Minimum of one (1) year of psychiatric experience. Licenses and Certifications License to practice in the State of New Jersey. CPR certification required. Valid driver’s license; own vehicle or alternative means of transportation between sites. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) or equivalent. Physical Demands and Work Environment First responder must be capable of performing CPR for at least 10 minutes.
