Temporary Office Assistant

Salary: $19.84 - $26.77 Hourly Location : Chesterfield, VA Job Type: Part-Time Job Number: 27-00211 Department: Human Resources Opening Date: 09/14/2026 Closing Date: 9/27/2026 11:59 PM Eastern Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED; two years of experience in general clerical or office support work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Working knowledge of standard office practices and procedures; of the principles of customer service. Ability to learn assigned secretarial and clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routines; to understand and carry out oral and written directions; to perform basic mathematical calculations; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and Microsoft Office software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required. Duties The Department of Human Resources would like to expand its pool of Temporary Office Assistants, or Floaters, who do not have one home department but are available to float from one department to another and meet temporary staffing needs. Temporary assignments may include: providing reception and/or front counter assistance; screening office visitors and providing information; distributing forms; accepting applications and payments; answering telephone and taking messages; performing data entry; sorting and filing correspondence and documents; proofreading, editing and word processing a variety of correspondence, letters, forms and documents; preparing various documents for meetings; assembling, copying, collating and binding documents; sorting and distributing mail. Perform other work as required.
