Job Opportunity: Academic OB/GYN

Our organization is currently looking for an Academic OB/GYN to join the Division of General Obstetrics and Gynecology. The academic rank and salary will be aligned with the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and oversight to resident physicians and medical students in both inpatient and outpatient environments.
• Engage in specialized clinic services and clinical research, particularly in areas such as vulvar vaginal diseases, pediatric adolescent gynecology, or pelvic pain.
• Work primarily at the Medical Center on campus, managing the obstetric unit, supervising the benign gynecology team, and overseeing the resident continuity clinic.
• Deliver outpatient care and participate in in-house and backup call duties during nights and weekends.
• Conduct rounds for antepartum and postpartum patients, as well as gynecologic patients.
• Provide consultations for obstetric and gynecologic cases in inpatient and emergency departments, and assist family practice obstetric providers and advanced practice providers.
• Participate in quality and safety initiatives related to obstetrics and gynecology, as well as clinical informatics.

Qualifications

• A medical degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) is required.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology is mandatory.
• Candidates should be ABOG board eligible or certified.
• Eligibility for licensure by the Iowa Board of Medicine is required, with actual licensure needed before starting employment.
• Strong clinical and surgical skills, effective patient management abilities, and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
• Demonstrated teaching capabilities and a commitment to fostering a collaborative team culture are also required.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is home to distinguished faculty who are leaders in clinical practice, research, and education. Our department features a robust residency program with six residents annually and competitive fellowship opportunities in various subspecialties. Active research initiatives focus on areas such as preeclampsia, gynecologic cancers, pelvic floor disorders, and infertility.
