Production Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and performance of production operations. This position directly supervises approximately 10 production employees and is accountable for ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on time, and according to established quality standards. Because of the size of the operation, the Production Supervisor is expected to maintain a strong presence on the production floor and take a hands-on approach to problem solving, employee development, production scheduling, equipment issues, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

What you'll do:

• Lead, direct, and coordinate the daily activities of approximately 10 production employees.

• Establish daily production priorities and assign employees based on workload, skills, equipment availability, and customer requirements.

• Monitor production throughout the day and adjust labor and priorities as conditions change.

• Ensure production orders are completed accurately and according to schedule.

• Maintain a visible presence on the production floor and respond quickly to problems affecting safety, quality, delivery, or productivity.

• Hold employees accountable for attendance, work performance, safety, quality, housekeeping, and established procedures.

• Train employees on standard work, equipment operation, quality requirements, safety procedures, and workplace expectations.

• Identify employee training needs and develop cross-training to reduce dependency on individual employees.

• Monitor productivity, labor utilization, scrap, rework, downtime, and schedule attainment.

• Investigate production problems and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

• Coordinate equipment maintenance and communicate equipment problems that could affect production.

• Verify that required production documentation, work orders, and other records are completed accurately.

• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe workplace using 5S/6S principles.

• Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.

• Communicate production status, shortages, equipment concerns, staffing issues, and other risks to management.

• Support inventory accuracy and proper material movement, identification, storage, and transaction processes.

• Conduct daily production meetings or shift-start meetings to communicate priorities, safety concerns, quality issues, and performance expectations

Safety Responsibilities:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for reinforcing the company's safety program and ensuring employees follow established safe work practices. Responsibilities include enforcing required PPE, identifying and correcting workplace hazards, ensuring employees follow applicable machine-safety and lockout/tagout procedures, reporting and investigating incidents and near misses, supporting required safety training, and escalating hazards requiring management action. The supervisor is also expected to support compliance with applicable California occupational safety and health requirements and company programs, including the company's Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Hazard Communication Program, emergency procedures, and other applicable safety requirements.

What you'll bring:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.

• Familiarity with California workplace safety requirements, including IIPP, Hazard Communication, PPE, machine guarding, and lockout/tagout requirements.

• Basic computer proficiency, including email, Microsoft Office applications, and manufacturing/ERP systems.

• Previous experience as a Production Supervisor, Team Lead, Lead Operator, or similar leadership position preferred.

• Understanding of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles, including 5S/6S, standard work, waste reduction, and problem solving.
