Brake Press Operator

Trillium Staffing is now seeking Brake Press Operators for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Nashville, TN!


Join a busy Nashville steel operation where your experience with shears, brake presses and steel processing can make an immediate impact! This is a 520-hour contract-to-hire opportunity with the potential to become a permanent employee. High performers may be considered for early hire-on!


Schedule is 1st Shift, Monday through Friday, 7:00AM - 3:30PM/5:30PM. Employees are currently working mandatory OT as needed. Pay rate is $21-$24+/hr, based on experience.


Job Responsibilities:
-Operate industrial shears and/or brake press equipment to process steel and metal products according to customer specifications
-Set up and operate equipment safely and efficiently
-Read and interpret work orders, measurements and basic production specifications
-Accurately measure and verify material before and during processing
-Cut, bend, form and process steel to required dimensions
-Inspect finished material for accuracy, quality and proper specifications
-Safely move, position and stage steel materials throughout the work area
-Work with heavy and oversized steel products
-Identify and report equipment, material or quality issues
-Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
-Maintain a clean and organized work area
-Perform general material-handling and production duties as needed
-Work as part of a smaller team in a fast-paced steel service center environment

-Previous experience operating a shear, brake press, press brake or similar metal-processing equipment
-Steel, metal fabrication, manufacturing or industrial experience is a plus
-Ability to read a tape measure and understand math and basic fractions
-Ability to regularly lift, carry, push and pull materials as needed
-Comfortable working in a heavy industrial environment
-Steel-toe boots required to be worn.


Preferred:
-Previous Punch Press, Turret Punch, Laser, Plasma, Metal Stamping, CNC Machine, Metal Saw and/or Slitter experience is VERY helpful!
-Steel service center or metal-processing experience
-Experience reading work orders, blueprints or basic fabrication specifications
-Experience operating other industrial cutting, forming or fabrication equipment
-Heavy equipment or material-handling experience
-Candidates with transferable metalworking, fabrication or machine-operator skills may be considered and trained on specific equipment
