Production Control Coordinator

The Production Control Coordinator oversees and supports the end-to-end production process, working closely with materials management and production management to ensure production readiness and product availability. This role coordinates with Sales, Purchasing, Design, Engineering, Production, and Quality Assurance to maintain accurate inventory levels, optimize materials procurement, and support on-time delivery. The Production Control Coordinator compiles and analyzes data from ERP systems, monitors stockroom inventory, reviews sales orders for accuracy, and facilitates product movement between departments while upholding quality standards and cost control.

• Compile relevant data from ERP systems to determine materials needed to meet demand requirements.
• Review current customer orders and schedule stockroom releases based on production process lead times, material availability, and customer need dates.
• Decide which suppliers to order materials from, considering minimum order quantities, unit pricing, and lead times.
• Use knowledge of production, procurement, and engineering functions to alert appropriate stakeholders about potential problems and recommend remedial actions.
• Maintain schedules for material requirements and availability to support the manufacture of components and meet customer delivery dates.
• Provide clear daily instructions to the Shipping and Receiving department regarding outgoing shipments.
• Review customer assembly instructions and ensure special or non-standard requirements are clearly communicated to the production floor.
• Send work-in-progress (WIP) and inventory reports upon customer request and collaborate with Sales and customers to resolve any discrepancies.
• Resolve paperwork discrepancies with incoming materials by working with Purchasing for company-purchased materials and Sales for customer-consigned materials.
• Analyze data to identify gaps and collaborate with Purchasing and Design teams to ensure optimal component procurement in terms of cost and lead time.
• Coordinate with production groups to establish delivery dates for new orders that align with customer expectations and production capacity.
• Enforce procedures to ensure adherence to quality standards, production schedules, and cost control measures.
• Conduct frequent reviews of production and material schedules, proactively addressing challenges to minimize impact on customer delivery timelines.
• Escalate challenges promptly and effectively, ensuring all relevant parties are informed and actions are taken to resolve issues efficiently.
• Maintain a strong focus on critical metrics such as On-Time Delivery and cost control, implementing corrective actions as needed to achieve performance targets.
• Attend production meetings, facilitate product movement between departments, and record product status updates as needed.
• Verify that quality standards, equipment calibration requirements, and associated paperwork are in place and accurate.
• Handle shipments and support training of employees related to production control processes when needed.
• Monitor stockroom inventory and coordinate the supply chain for multiple product lines to support delivery commitments based on production lead times.
• Review sales orders for product and component accuracy before production begins to prevent errors and delays.

• Minimum of an associate degree or bachelors degree, or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 6 months to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing control or production control environment.
• Strong understanding of production processes and production scheduling.
• Proficiency in ERP systems and other relevant software applications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related administrative tools.
• Demonstrated ability to provide administrative support within a production environment.
• Strong data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• Proactive mindset with the ability to identify and address challenges before they escalate.
• Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of materials management, procurement, and supply chain coordination.
• Ability to interpret and act on production schedules, customer orders, and assembly instructions.

• Additional education or certifications in manufacturing, supply chain, operations, or a related field are preferred.
• Experience compiling and analyzing data from ERP systems to support decision-making.
• Familiarity with quality standards and cost control measures in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams such as Sales, Purchasing, Design, Engineering, Production, and Quality Assurance.
• Ability to manage multiple product lines and balance competing priorities.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to propose practical corrective actions.
• Comfort with providing guidance to Shipping and Receiving teams and other operational staff.
• Experience preparing and delivering WIP and inventory reports for internal and external stakeholders.

This role is based in a production office environment, working closely with manufacturing, materials, and operations teams. You will regularly interact with ERP systems, Microsoft Office, and other production-related software tools to manage schedules, materials, and data. The setting combines office-based tasks such as data analysis, scheduling, and documentation with frequent coordination with stockroom, shipping, and production floor personnel. Work hours align with standard production operations, requiring responsiveness to changing priorities and deadlines while maintaining a professional appearance appropriate for an office within a manufacturing facility.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

The pay range for this position is $33.80 - $36.50/hr.
