Associate Director, Service Engineering

Natera seeks an Associate Director of Service Engineering to lead reliability and operational excellence for lab-facing platforms in a regulated healthcare environment. The role combines team leadership with technical accountability for production stability, incident response, and compliance across clinical systems and laboratory workflows.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor Service Engineers/SREs supporting clinical production systems with clear ownership expectations
- Own reliability, availability, and SLA/SLO management for lab operations and customer-facing services
- Direct major incident response, triage, communication, and post-incident reviews
- Drive monitoring, alerting, automation, and observability improvements across platforms
- Ensure regulatory compliance (HIPAA, CLIA, CAP, SOX) and disaster recovery readiness
Requirements
- 8+ years of service engineering or related engineering experience
- 5+ years leading technical teams in people management roles
- Expertise operating mission-critical, highly available production systems
- Demonstrated incident management and root cause analysis skills
- Hands-on experience with CMMS and LIMS environments
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Healthcare, biotech, or regulated industry experience preferred
