HRIS Manager The HRIS Manager is a critical strategic and operational partner within the Office of Human Resources. This exempt professional staff (EPS) position is responsible for managing HR data systems, leading reporting and analytics, and ensuring the integrity and accuracy of workforce data. The role has responsibility for the Banner HR module and related systems. The position collaborates with all HR functional areas, including classification and compensation, employee relations, leave administration, and provides support to Benefits Shared Services in data-driven decision-making, compliance, and operational efficiency. A foundational understanding of HR practices, policies, and processes is required to accurately interpret data and report workforce information. Responsibilities Serve as the Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) Manager, overseeing HR data systems and analytics. Manage the Banner HR module and related systems; ensure data integrity and accurate reporting. Collaborate with HR functional areas (classification/compensation, employee relations, leave administration) and support benefits data-driven decision-making, compliance, and operational efficiency. Interpret HR data and translate business requirements into effective system configurations and reports. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience, or Master's and 1-2 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience with HRIS administration and foundational knowledge of HR processes and data structures. Experience in the UNC System. Experience with additional HR technologies (PeopleAdmin, Canvas, Laserfiche) and related systems (recruiting, learning management, performance management). Experience diagnosing and resolving technical integration issues across enterprise systems, vendor interfaces, and data feeds. Ability to lead or support system initiatives, process improvements, and policy workflow enhancements. Strong organizational and multi-tasking abilities with a track record of meeting deadlines. Commitment to ethical stewardship of confidential information and strong customer service orientation. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Teams. Experience with Banner HR Module, Banner Security, Dynamics Forms, Formstack, Argos, and Power BI. Basic knowledge of SQL queries. Terms of Employment Position Type: EPS. Working hours: standard office hours with an on-site requirement; may require additional hours to fulfill responsibilities. Ability to anticipate HRIS needs, translate requirements into system configurations, and improve HR processes. Analytical and diagnostic thinking to identify root causes and resolve complex issues. Ability to develop and maintain test plans, scripts, and validation processes for system implementations, upgrades, and patches. Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to manage multiple priorities. Ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment and foster cross-department relationships. Functional knowledge of HR operations including HR, benefits, payroll, and recruitment workflows.
