Job DescriptionJob DescriptionJob Title: Facilities Maintenance TechnicianLocation: Santa Fe Springs, CAShift: 2nd Shift, 2:30 PM – 11:00 PMTraining Period: Approximately 1 month on 1st Shift, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, before transitioning to the regular 2nd Shift schedule.Job SummaryThe Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general repairs, preventive maintenance, and upkeep of the building, grounds, and equipment, in addition to routine janitorial duties. This role requires a hands-on individual comfortable handling a wide range of tasks — from basic handyman repairs to daily cleaning responsibilities — to help keep the facility safe, functional, and presentable.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform general repairs and maintenance on the building, fixtures, doors, plumbing, electrical (non-licensed scope), and other facility systems.Complete minor carpentry, painting, patching, and general handyman-type repairs as needed.Inspect and maintain lighting, and other building systems; coordinate with maintenance team to report repairs beyond in-house scope.Perform preventive maintenance on facility equipment and document completed work.Clean and maintain shop floors, restrooms, break areas, and offices, including sweeping, mopping, and trash/recycling removal.Dispose of industrial waste (metal shavings, swarf, oils, coolant) safely and in accordance with company procedures.Perform general exterior upkeep, including grounds maintenance, hedge trimming, and parking lot cleanliness.Respond to maintenance requests and repair issues in a timely manner.Use ladders, hand tools, and power tools safely to complete assigned repairs and upkeep tasks.Maintain an inventory of maintenance and cleaning supplies; notify supervisor when restocking is needed.Follow all OSHA and company safety guidelines while performing maintenance and cleaning duties.Skills & AbilitiesBasic knowledge of general repair work, including light electrical, and plumbing.Ability to troubleshoot and resolve routine facility issues independently.Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and cleaning equipment.Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across a variety of daily tasks.Attention to detail, dependability, and consistent attendance.Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and established safety procedures.Ability to work cooperatively with employees, supervisors, and other departments in an active machine-shop environment.Physical RequirementsAbility to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and reach for extended periods throughout the shift.Ability to safely lift, carry, and move tools, equipment, and materials up to 50 lbs; team lift or equipment required beyond that weight.Ability to climb and safely use ladders or step ladders to perform repairs and maintenance at height.Ability to safely enter, maneuver within, and exit tight or confined spaces as required to complete assigned repairs or cleaning duties.Ability to perform indoor and outdoor maintenance and janitorial duties for the duration of the scheduled shift.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions of the position.Work EnvironmentWork is performed primarily in an active industrial machine-shop and manufacturing environment, with some duties performed outdoors.Regular exposure to metal dust, shavings, oils, grease, cleaning chemicals, and industrial equipment.Exposure to loud equipment and varying noise levels; hearing protection may be required in designated areas.Occasional entry into tight or confined spaces (e.g., beneath or around machinery, pits, or equipment enclosures) may be required, following established confined space safety procedures.Required use of applicable personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toe footwear.Schedule NoteThis position will train on 1st Shift (6:00 AM – 2:30 PM) for approximately one month before transitioning to the regular 2nd Shift schedule (2:30 PM – 11:00 PM).
