We are seeking a relationship-focused  Assistant Account Relationship Specialist to join our  Jani-King of Washington D.C. team, supporting Customer accounts across the  Fairfax, VA area. This role supports the Account Relationship Specialist in building strong relationships and protecting Customer retention across an assigned portfolio of accounts — a great entry point into account management.

Position Summary

As an Assistant Account Relationship Specialist, you'll work alongside an experienced Account Relationship Specialist to help maintain Customer satisfaction, resolve concerns early, and support a positive working relationship between Customers and their assigned Unit Franchisees. You'll get hands-on exposure to relationship management, retention strategy, and quality assurance — with real mentorship along the way.

Key Responsibilities

Customer & Unit Franchisee Relationship Management

• Serve as a point of contact for assigned accounts, providing responsive and professional service to Customers.
• Conduct regular site visits and Customer meetings to reinforce satisfaction and identify concerns before they escalate.
• Respond to Customer concerns with urgency, using Jani-King policies and procedures to protect account relationships.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with Unit Franchisees as a day-to-day point of contact.

Retention & Risk Support

• Help monitor assigned accounts for early warning signs of dissatisfaction.
• Support the Account Relationship Specialist in resolving at-risk Customer relationships before they result in cancellation.
• Track and communicate retention risks and account status to the Account Relationship Specialist and regional leadership.

Account Startups & Onboarding

• Assist in coordinating new and transfer account launches, including scheduling walkthroughs with Unit Franchisees and Customers.
• Help place new and transfer accounts with the most qualified Unit Franchisees based on capability and capacity.
• Monitor new accounts closely during the initial period to confirm service stability and Customer satisfaction.

Quality Assurance & Safety Compliance

• Perform routine inspections of Customer sites to confirm adherence to service standards (training provided).
• Document findings, provide actionable feedback to Unit Franchisees, and follow up to confirm corrective measures are implemented.
• Reinforce OSHA guidelines, PPE requirements, and safe work practices.

Unit Franchisee Support & Administrative Reporting

• Assist Unit Franchisees with training, problem resolution, scheduling support, and operational guidance.
• Maintain accurate records of site visits, inspections, service issues, and Customer communications.
• Attend team meetings and account briefings, and complete required reporting accurately and on time.

What We're Looking For

• 1-2 years of experience in customer service, account support, or another customer-facing role; commercial cleaning or facilities services experience a plus
• Strong background in Customer relations and conflict resolution
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and accounts across a territory
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HubSpot or web-based reporting tools preferred
• Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record required (Jani-King provides a company vehicle for local travel)

This role combines in-office planning with regular fieldwork across the assigned territory — including site visits, Customer meetings, and Unit Franchisee support. This is not a desk-bound role.
