Department Pathology Lab Med - Clinical - 413802 Posting Open Date 06/18/2026 Open Until Filled Yes Position Type Permanent Faculty Working Title Academic Hematopathologist Appointment Type Faculty Vacancy ID FAC0005996 Full-time/Part-time Full-Time Permanent Hours per week 40 FTE 1 Position Location North Carolina, US Proposed Start Date 01/04/2027 Position Summary The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is seeking an academic Pathologist with sub-specialty training in Hematopathology for a tenure-track/tenured, fixed-term, or variable track faculty position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The ideal candidate will have a primary service assignment in hematopathology. Those with interests in flow cytometry or molecular diagnostics are encouraged to apply. Applicants with sufficient experience will be considered for a leadership position as Director of Hematopathology. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has internationally recognized research programs in a range of disciplines with particularly strong cancer, global health, and benign hematology research. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. In addition, regular opportunities are available for teaching in the School of Medicine and the Graduate School. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements The applicant must have an MD or DO degree, be American Board of Pathology board-certified or board eligible in Hematopathology as well as Clinical and/or Anatomic Pathology and be eligible to obtain a medical license in North Carolina.
