Avagyan Law Firm is seeking an experienced Insurance Bad Faith Attorney to join our growing legal team and help expand our California insurance coverage and property damage practice.

We are looking for an attorney with experience representing policyholders in first-party property insurance disputes, insurance bad faith claims, coverage litigation, and denied, delayed, or underpaid insurance claims.

We offer flexible, individually negotiated terms based on the attorney’s experience, availability, professional goals, and the needs of the Firm. We welcome discussions regarding a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Compensation: $200,000–$300,000 annually , depending on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities: Key Responsibilities

• Represent policyholders in insurance bad faith, first-party property insurance, and insurance coverage litigation.

• Evaluate residential and commercial property insurance policies, coverage provisions, exclusions, endorsements, conditions, and claim denials.

• Handle denied, delayed, disputed, and underpaid insurance claims.

• Represent clients in fire damage, wildfire, smoke damage, water damage, flood-related coverage disputes, theft, vandalism, and other property loss matters.

• Handle disputes involving actual cash value (ACV), replacement cost value (RCV), loss valuation, appraisal, and repair or replacement estimates.

• Evaluate insurer allegations of concealment, fraud, material misrepresentation, policy rescission, and policy cancellation.

• Prepare clients for and represent them during examinations under oath (EUOs) and insurer claim investigations.

• Review proofs of loss, reservation-of-rights letters, denial letters, claim files, expert reports, and insurance company communications.

• Investigate potential breach of contract, breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and insurance bad faith claims.

• Draft complaints, demand letters, discovery requests, motions, briefs, mediation statements, and settlement agreements.

• Conduct depositions, manage written discovery, work with expert witnesses, and prepare cases for trial.

• Negotiate with insurance adjusters, insurance defense attorneys, and insurance carriers.

• Manage cases from initial consultation and pre-litigation investigation through settlement, arbitration, mediation, litigation, or trial.

• Maintain excellent client communication, case documentation, and deadline management.

• Collaborate with the Firm’s attorneys, paralegals, and administrative team while contributing to the growth of its insurance practice.

Qualifications: Qualifications

1. Active license to practice law in California and membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.

2. Minimum of 7 years of litigation experience, including substantial experience in insurance bad faith, first-party property insurance claims, insurance coverage disputes, or property damage litigation.

3. Demonstrated experience representing policyholders against insurance carriers in complex insurance disputes; policyholder-side litigation experience strongly preferred.

4. Advanced knowledge of California insurance law, insurance policy interpretation, insurer claim-handling practices, and bad faith litigation.

5. Proven experience handling significant insurance claim denials, reservation-of-rights letters, coverage investigations, and complex coverage disputes.

6. Substantial experience with examinations under oath (EUOs), insurer investigations, proofs of loss, appraisal proceedings, and policy rescission or material misrepresentation disputes.

7. Strong civil litigation background, including independently managing discovery, depositions, expert witnesses, dispositive motions, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.

8. Ability to lead complex, high-value insurance litigation matters independently, develop case strategies, evaluate risk, and make sound litigation decisions.
