Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU RN Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: License required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care. - RN's must pass a skills exam with a minimum score of 90%. - RN's required to titrate drips. - RN's must read, interpret, and document telemetry strips. Description: The ICU unit has 33 beds with an average daily census of 16 patients. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2-3 for adult patients. Common patient diagnoses include trauma, cardiac issues, substance abuse, adult sepsis, and respiratory distress. RN's will manage various titratable drips such as cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation. Nurse aides are available based on patient census to assist on the floor. Respiratory therapy equipment may be used, and RN's are expected to troubleshoot as necessary. Self-scheduling is permitted for core staff, but block scheduling cannot be guaranteed. RN's may float to PCU or MedSurg units, maintaining the same patient ratios. RN's are required to work a minimum of two holidays during the contract period. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. RTO requests should be made upfront and are limited to seven days or fewer during the contract. The charting system used is EPIC. A BSN degree is required for this position.
