Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Cath Lab/EP Prep and Recovery position requiring critical care, PACU, or CCU experience and prior Cath/EP/Vascular Lab exposure.

Details

• Prep/Recovery unit caring for patients post Cath, Vascular, and EP procedures
• 12-bed unit seeing 17-20 patients daily, typically with the same nurse before and after the procedure for continuity of care
• Patient population includes R and L Heart Cath, structural hearts, TAVRs, Watchman, Vascular procedures, EP devices and ablations, and possible Carotid access procedures
• Patients typically under moderate sedation and more awake and alert than standard PACU patients
• RN to patient ratio is 1:3, though TAVR patients may be 1:2
• Day shift schedule, 7am-3pm Monday through Friday, though some staff work 10-hour shifts
• Schedule cycle runs 4-5 weeks at a time
• No weekend rotation and no on-call requirements
• Possibility to float to EP and other procedural areas
• EPIC EMR used
• Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors used
• Unit-specific equipment includes EKG, iSTAT, and glucometers

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact)
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Critical Care, PACU, or CCU experience required
• Prior experience in a Cath/EP/Vascular Lab setting required
• Comfortable performing neurovascular checks, including Doppler use
• Experience managing drips (nitro, heparin, occasionally pressors)
• Site management experience including femoral or radial access and TR band or groin device compression
• Post-anesthesia care experience with basic BP management
• Experience with swan, temporary pacing wires, or A-line preferred but not required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
• At least one professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Provide pre- and post-procedure care for patients undergoing Cath, Vascular, and EP procedures
• Level III Trauma Center with Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center designations
• EKG, glucometer, and iSTAT checkoffs completed during orientation
• Support includes one CNA at a time, an occasional charge nurse who may assist with cardioversions, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and on-unit APPs, NPs, and MDs
• Orientation includes facility NEO along with 1-2 precepted shifts
• Unit closed on major holidays
• All RTO requests approved by the unit manager
• Green scrubs provided
• Free designated parking available for staff

• Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered
• Former employees must be separated from any Advocate Health Southeast facility for at least one year following a permanent position before being eligible
