Safety & Fleet Manager

The Fleet & Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's vehicle fleet, driver safety programs, and workplace safety compliance across multiple locations. This role ensures company vehicles are properly maintained, operated safely, and compliant with regulatory standards, while also developing and enforcing safety policies that reduce risk, prevent accidents, and protect employees. This position plays a critical role in minimizing liability, controlling fleet-related costs, and supporting safe field operations for technicians and drivers. The Fleet & Safety Manager partners closely with operations leadership, HR, and service management to promote a strong safety culture and ensure consistent standards across all locations. Key Responsibilities Fleet Management Oversee the company vehicle fleet, including assignment, utilization, maintenance, and replacement planning. Coordinate vehicle maintenance, inspections, repairs, and vendor relationships. Track vehicle usage, mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance schedules. Ensure vehicles are properly equipped, compliant, and ready for daily field operations. Manage fleet records, registrations, insurance documentation, and compliance requirements. Driver Safety & Compliance Develop, implement, and enforce driver safety policies and procedures. Monitor driver records, licensing, MVRs, and insurance eligibility. Investigate vehicle accidents, incidents, and near-misses; document findings and recommend corrective actions. Coordinate accident reporting, claims management, and communication with insurance providers. Ensure compliance with DOT, state, and company vehicle safety requirements as applicable. Workplace Safety Programs Develop and maintain company safety programs related to field operations, vehicle use, and equipment handling. Conduct safety training, onboarding support, and refresher training for technicians and drivers. Perform safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments at branch and job-site levels. Identify hazards and implement corrective and preventative measures. Maintain OSHA-related documentation and support audits or inspections as needed. Policy Development & Enforcement Create and maintain fleet and safety policies, procedures, and training materials. Partner with HR to align safety policies with employee handbook and disciplinary procedures. Ensure consistent enforcement of safety standards across all locations. Provide guidance to managers and supervisors on safety-related issues. Reporting & Analysis Track and report safety metrics, including accidents, incidents, claims, and violations. Analyze trends related to fleet costs, accidents, and safety compliance. Provide regular reports and recommendations to executive leadership. Support budgeting and cost-control initiatives related to fleet operations and insurance. Partner with Operations, HR, and Service Managers to support safe field operations. Serve as the primary point of contact for fleet and safety-related issues. Support investigations, corrective action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications & Skills (Required) Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fleet management, safety management, or operations support. Experience supporting field-based or service-based workforces. Strong knowledge of vehicle safety, accident investigation, and risk management practices. Familiarity with OSHA requirements and workplace safety standards. Strong organizational, analytical, and documentation skills. Ability to enforce policies consistently while maintaining professional relationships. Excellent communication and training skills. Valid driver's license with the ability to review and manage driver eligibility. Qualifications (Preferred) Experience in pest control, field services, construction, or outdoor service industries. Safety-related certifications (OSHA 30, CSP, ASP, or similar). Experience managing fleet software, GPS tracking, or telematics systems. Experience working in a multi-location or private equity-backed organization. Working Conditions Office-based role with regular interaction with field teams and management. Occasional travel to branch locations or job sites. May require extended hours during accident investigations, audits, or safety initiatives.
