Candidates with strictly ICU experience must have Cerner experience. Staff members must be away for a minimum of 6 months before returning as a traveler from their last shift worked to their start date. Each nurse will be assigned to a home unit on their first day of orientation. Patient Ratios Typical RN ratio of 1:4 With fewer patients, RNs are expected to assist with turning patients, bathing, and other activities of daily living (ADLs). High expectations for quality of care with a lower patient load. Unit Information 6 North Trauma Surgical 23 Beds Patient Types: General Surgery and Vascular surgeries. Skills Required: At least 1 year of trauma/surgical experience, wound care, chest tubes, NGT, IV skills, medication administration/documentation, and escalations. 5 South Neuroscience 33 Beds Patient Types: CVA, TBI, Seizure, AMS, Spinal Fusion, Craniotomy, Degenerative Diseases, post trauma, angiogram. Skills Required: IV start, blood draws from central lines, trach care, PEG, NGT, Colostomy/Ostomy, Wound Care, Chest tube, Surgical Site Care, C-Collar, Abdominal Binders, Restraints. 5 North MedSurg/Oncology 39 Beds, with 2 Charge RNs (no patient assignment) Patient Types: All except stroke and MI, palliative care, ETOH withdrawal, MS/Oncology patients. Skills Required: Trach care, chest tubes, PEG tubes, wound care, drains, foleys, IV starts; chemo administration preferred if certified. Telemetry monitoring by Telemetry Techs with RNs required to interpret and confirm telemetry strips every 4 hours. 3 South Orthopedic 20 Beds Patient Types: Orthopedic and spine including joint replacements, fractures, fusions, and laminectomies. Skills Required: PCA pumps, wound care (negative pressure dressing), dressing changes, foley, drains (hemovacs/JP drains). 3 North MS/Ortho/Urology 23 Beds Patient Types: Urology, ENT, ortho, MedSurg. Skills Required: Trach care, wound care, wound vacs, IV starts, CVL dressing changes, follow nurse-driven foley protocol. Required Certifications BLS NIHSS Support on the Unit CNA Ratio: 1:10-12 for VS, ADLs, glucose checks when available Receptionist/HUC available Phlebotomy support available IV/VAT Team available Hospitalist available Telemetry monitoring tech available Technology and Equipment EMR: Cerner (EPIC experience considered) IV pumps: Plum 360 Medication dispensing: Omnicell Monitors: Spacelabs Orientation Travelers who are new to the facility or have been away for Thrive Staffing Job ID 19036034.
