Senior Counsel

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Counsel to join the team of a leader in the Energy & Utilities space. This role will provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. You will partner with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. The position offers the opportunity to strengthen responsible execution, improve decision‑making, and support sustainable growth within a Energy & Utilities environment. Location: Houston, TX - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $200,000 – $230,000 annually Responsibilities Provide legal counsel on engineering, procurement, construction, and maintenance matters Represent the company in major transactions and negotiate agreements Draft and negotiate various contracts including EPC, O&M, Turbine and Module Supply Agreements Advise internal teams on operating projects' legal issues Supervise outside counsel when necessary Assist with additional projects as needed and collaborate with other attorneys Work with stakeholders to enhance contracting processes and tools Qualifications JD from a reputable law school with strong academic credentials Licensed to practice law 7+ years of relevant legal experience, preferably at a major law firm or sophisticated in‑house department Expertise in construction, procurement, and operations/maintenance for utility‑scale energy projects Strong business acumen and commercial judgment Exceptional communication, teamwork, and project management skills Proven ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment Benefits Generous paid time off Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage Health Savings Accounts with company contributions 401(k) plan with employer match Tuition reimbursement programs Relocation assistance Flexible work environment with hybrid opportunities Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
