General Manager - Ground Operation

Do you enjoy working outdoors in a fast-paced, safety‑obsessed aviation environment? As a General Manager, you will oversee operations of all departments within your station, manage the station budget, and provide leadership for all management staff. Ideal candidates have at least five years of progressive aviation management experience, including customer service and ground handling for wide‑body and narrow‑body aircraft. Alliance Ground International (AGI) is one of the largest independently owned ground handling companies serving 100+ airlines in 61 airports across the U.S. and Canada. Job Responsibilities Oversee all station operations, including ramp, cabin cleaning services, GSE maintenance, and customer service. Control the station's budget and financial responsibilities; ensure accurate billing is submitted in a timely manner. Direct managers and support staff, oversee schedules to ensure adequate staffing for all operations. Maintain working relationships with customers and provide prompt responses to service requests. Assist the recruiting team with hiring and oversee on‑the‑job training and ongoing professional development opportunities for team members. Observe and enforce AGI and airline safety regulations as well as company policies. Actively seek future business opportunities. Safety, Security and Compliance Take reasonable care for the health, wellbeing, safety, and security of themselves and of others who may be affected by their actions or omissions while at work. Cooperate with manager/supervisor to comply with any legal requirements imposed on the company. Do not intentionally or recklessly interfere with or misuse anything provided by the company in the interests of health, wellbeing, safety, security or welfare reasons. Notify manager/supervisor of any work situation, equipment, or activity that represents a serious or immediate danger to health, wellbeing, safety and security. Report any hazards, near‑misses, incidents, accidents, or dangerous occurrences to their manager/supervisor, who will then follow the procedures contained in company and carrier safety and security procedures. Carry out work in accordance with the information and training provided and any specific health, wellbeing, safety, and security rules or procedures. Fully understand AGI health & safety and security policies. Attend training courses as may be required by AGI. Physical Requirements Occasionally lift, carry, push, pull, and move items weighing 70 pounds or more and repetitively lift items weighing 40–50 pounds on raised surfaces. Carry heavy items up and down narrow jetway stairs. Walk, climb, bend, kneel, crawl, and stoop frequently and for extended periods. Work in cramped or high places. Be alert to moving vehicles or aircraft and use radio equipment to communicate with crew and airport authorities. Work outside in all types of weather, around jet and machinery noises. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Good communication skills: communicate information and instructions verbally and/or via radio equipment effectively in a professional manner with flight crew, gate agents, and other ground crew. Customer service skills: primary point of contact for airline customers; must have professional, courteous communication while resolving customer concerns. Airline regulation knowledge: knowledge of FAA regulations, standard security program, OSHA regulations, and GSE maintenance procedures. Computer skills: use computer systems to track process completion, manage budgets, and produce reports. Problem‑solving skills: troubleshoot issues during irregular flight operations. Time‑management skills: manage time effectively, lead teams to manage time to complete tasks efficiently in a fast‑paced environment. Qualifications Five years’ progressive management experience. Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field, or a relevant combination of business experience and education. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Authorization to work in the United States and, if location is Canada, authorization to work in Canada per immigration laws. Completion of ramp and SIDA training to obtain airport authority identification security. Ability to secure a Customs Seal if required by customer or role access. Preferred: One+ year of relevant experience.
