A fulfilling contract opportunity awaits a dedicated Special Education Teacher eager to make a significant impact in a high school environment. In this full-time position, you will be assigned to one school and work with students at the high school level for the remainder of the academic year. Your expertise and support will be pivotal in promoting academic growth, independence, and positive learning experiences for students with diverse needs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Connecticut Special Education Teaching License specific to high school (CT SPED)
- Experience supporting high school-aged students with special needs preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP processes, accommodations, and differentiated instruction
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with staff, administrators, and families
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, student-centered environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction to students based on IEP goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to adapt curriculum and ensure instructional access
- Develop, review, and update IEPs in compliance with state and federal regulations
- Track and report student progress, maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student goals and achievements
- Participate in meetings, professional development, and activities that enhance your teaching practice
