Mental Health Domestic Violence Consultant

With 50 locations and 100 programs in NYCs most under-served communities our 1000 results-oriented professionals make a difference for more than 40000 children and their families each Mental Health Domestic Violence Consultant will function as the Mental Health/Intimate Partner Violence liaison to the ACS Team under the supervision of the TCCNY Team Coordinator and Program Director and will be located full time within one of the ACS Field Office Sites located in the Financial District in New York Functions:Conduct formal and informal consultations with ACS Child Protective Specialists on their cases which include mental health and/Intimate partner violence concerns. The CSP consultant will assist in assessing the presence of these concerns and help determine the specific level of interventions required to strengthen the family and reduce risk to the children providing concrete tools and casework cross consultations with their peers and CASAC support specialists that involve substance use disorder mental health concerns and intimate partner violenceCSP will meet Child Center productivity requirements including number of formal consultations per week and writing reports for every consultation within an acceptable time frame. Maintain statistics of clients served as part of regular progress reports for in family team meetings case conferences and child safety conferences with ACS families as required and approved by the Team Coordinator and/ or Director to assist ACS workers with providing client with psychoeducation referrals and raising awareness of the concerns presented and impact on the directly with families and/or support CPS Teams as they work with families to understand the pressing issues and pertinent history and to identify and assess areas of concern and strengthConduct assessments recommend effective interventions and engagement strategies for the benefit of caseworkers other ACS staff and and conduct mental health / IPV trainings for ACS Child Protective Specialists supervisors managers and other interested parties (including ACS contracted foster care and prevention providers) Training topics are to be determined by the needs of the field office in collaboration with the CSP team. Curriculum will be written and specific and creative in approach to engage ACS staff in learning and transfer of case reviews as an important training tool as per request of ACS and approval of the Team Coordinator/ CPS citywide mental health and IPV meetings- as determined by the Team Coordinator/ Program and maintain knowledge of community-based resources for referral to mental health and/or IPV Community/Field Visits-including but not limited to home visits schools hospitals (i.e. discharge meetings) and other treatment provider sites to assist with engaging clients and partnering with communicate and work directly with families and service providers to ensure families engage in recommended treatment/ Qualifications:Masters Degree with a License in Social Work Psychology or related Field LMSW LCSW Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Psychologist plus five (5) years of experience providing in-person clinical services to children and/or adults. Experience in serving families managing substance use disorders mental health and/or intimate partner violence challenges. Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and cross-disciplinary knowledge about the impact on families of co-occurring disorders and impairments. Two (2) years of experience providing clinical services to children and/or families that have had some experience with the child welfare and/or other social service agencies. Experience working with and/or knowledge of local networks of service providers supporting families in the areas of intimate partner violence mental health and substance use disorders. Trauma-informed culturally competent and cross-disciplinary knowledge about co-occurring mental health and intellectual or developmental disabilities and addressing interpersonal violence power and control with an adult with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Excellent listening and communication skills. Experienced ability to make psychosocial assessments and develop a care plan. Excellent clinical writing skills. Ability to work onsite in an ACS office location and/or out in the field 5 days/week is required to ensure effective collaboration and adherence to the Behavioral Expectations:Creating and maintaining a safe space with children and their family members.
