About the Role
The Company is seeking a Chief Development and Communications Officer (CDCO) to lead its comprehensive fundraising, communications, marketing, and external engagement efforts. The CDCO will be a key member of the executive leadership team, partnering with the CEO, Board of Directors, and senior leaders to strengthen philanthropic support, elevate the organization's public profile, and advance its mission. This role is pivotal in developing and executing an integrated strategy that aligns fundraising, brand management, public affairs, and thought leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of private fundraising, including major gifts, foundations, and corporate partnerships, and will be expected to build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders while serving as a leading external ambassador for the organization. Candidates for the CDCO position should have a minimum of 15 years' of progressive leadership experience in development, communications, or related functions within a complex, mission-driven organization. The role requires a strategic and collaborative leader with a proven track record in leading comprehensive fundraising programs and serving as a strategic advisor on fundraising and communications. The ideal candidate will have significant expertise in external affairs, including media relations, and a strong ability to engage with donors, foundations, and other key constituencies. Experience in large, matrixed organizations and familiarity with the philanthropic landscape are highly desirable. The CDCO will also be responsible for leading and developing a high-performing team, managing budgets, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. A deep commitment to the organization's mission and a belief in the transformative power of housing and community-based solutions are essential.
